Last month i set off to South Padre Island. My destination was a spanish style bed and breakfast that is being converted to a luxury seaside treatment center. Beautiful beautiful place, all custom built by the previous owners. My job was to document the entire property, focusing on enviromental shots that were inviting and could relay the tranquility that exists within this place. I shot for 2 days and then stayed on there one additional day and the place just FEELS good. It was interesting to realize that as i was shooting the future residents of the facility were out there, lost, unaware and in a place where hope is almost non-existent. I know that Origins and their staff (many of whom i am grateful to call friends) are in a postion to use this place and their hard won experience to serve many and give people who are suffering an opportunity to change and realize their potential. I love being a part of such worthy projects and my experience assisting commercial photographers really came in handy with the lighting. Thanks to Chris Whalen and Andy Vracin. I see a few things i could have done better but overall am pleased with the work. I am attaching a few shots and also a link to their beautiful website where more can be seen. If you know someone struggling with alcoholism or addiction, you are welcome to refer them here.
They are opening 3 more in different regions of the U.S. and i hope to help them with the others. Westchester, New York may be next. We shall see. Thanks for tuning in.
